How many coats do you do?

We do 3 coats (Light sanded in between coats) unless stated otherwise in the quote. We promise we will not cheat you into charging for 3 coats and only putting on 2 to save cost and labour time. Feel free to visit the site to check or ask us for photos as evidence.

Why is Waterbase coating much more expensive?

Material fee is much more higher so waterbase finish cost is noticeably higher than oil or solvent base finish. However waterbase has significantly less VOC and dries in around 2 hrs, so you can choose to stay in the house while we do the job to save on accommodation cost.

What is your availability?

Normally we are fully booked 2 weeks in advance. However if the floor area is less than 80sqm we maybe able to fit in jobs earlier.

Do i get charged for cancelling or changing bookings?

No, whether it be due to settlement being delayed, vacation cancelled, or simply change of mind. We respect your decision and do not wish to stress you out more so feel free to contact us if you need to cancel or change the date.

How long will the job take?

Job timeframe depends on the type of coating used and the condition of the floors. For example secret nailed floors can save us a extra day as we do not need to punch the nails in and fill. Usual timeframe for average condition floor should take between 2 days for small jobs or unit to 5 days for larger house (Oil/solvent based finish) or 1-4 days for a (Water based finish). If you wish to add colours or have carpets it will take 1 extra day to finish. All timeframe is subject to weather conditions.

When can I walk in after the job is finished?

Normally you can walk in 24 hours from the time we complete the job (5 hours for Water Base). However if the weather condition is humid it is safe to go back in from the second day. We recommend airing out the property for at least 2 days or until the polyurethane odour is gone before moving back in. Some houses may take longer to air out depending on the airflow and insulation.

When can I put my furniture back?

It is recommended to put furniture back 7 days after the job is finished as the polyurethane will need time to fully cure to achieve maximum strength. However we know it may not be plausible to wait that long so if you need to put furniture back, placing felt stickers to the bottom of furniture legs and when moving heavy furniture / refrigerator placing thick boxes when moving it back to position can help prevent deep scratches. Timber such as Pinewood is a softwood species and require much more attention to deep scratches.

Can i mop the floors?

We don’t recommend mopping the floors with water as it may cause water damage and wear out the coating much faster. Best way to clean the floors is by vacuuming with hardwood floor attachments. If you still need to mop the floors, it is best to wipe dry as soon as possible to prevent damage. Also please be aware of cleaning products containing silicone / silicon oil as it may cause a floor coating rejection problems in the long term when you re-sand the floors.

Where are you based?

We are based in Burwood, Melbourne and work around a 35 km radius. At times we do work in further areas so feel free to ask us anytime.

Do you work weekends?

Yes we occasionally work on weekends to finish the job within timeframe and prevent lengthy delays. We also provide overnight service for commercial properties if you require work after hours.
